Florian Bailly – Bow Maker at Lutherie d’Art
Florian first traveled to England to study lutherie at the Newark International School of Violin Making in Newark-On-Trent. He quickly developed an interest in bow making and decided to continue his studies alongside master bow maker Noel Burke in Ireland. He regularly travels throughout the UK to offer his services to workshops, schools, and orchestras but also takes time to focus on his own projects. It is in his seaside workshop based in Folkestone that he creates one-of-a-kind bows using traditional techniques.
Interested in using innovative materials that reduce environmental impact, Florian believes that there are many options yet to be discovered that could improve the aesthetics, playability, and strength of bows.
His bow designs are very unique and draw their inspiration from both French and British traditions as well as from some of the best bow producers of our day and age.
