Warchal Ametyst violin strings

A unique and precise sound with sharp harmonics and great projection. Ideal for weak sounding violins.

Warchal Ametyst violin strings are made from a synthetic perlon core. Despite being modern, they mimic the feel of gut strings by being very supple under the fingers. They produce a very clean and powerful sound.

Characteristics of the Warchal Ametyst violin strings

The term amethyst comes from the Greek amethystos, and more precisely from the verb methyo which means “to be drunk”. The privative particle “a-” leads to translate the term by “who is not drunk”.

Warchal’sAmetyststrings offer first of all a high quality synthetic core. On which various metals are then wound. It is in part hydronalium, an alloy of aluminum and magnesium that is highly resistant to the corrosion that can result from perspiration.

They offer a clearer and more precise sound than their alter-ego Karneol, while delivering a remarkable projection despite their low voltage. It is because of their rather low tension that the strings are very easy to play. They are also very stable and reach their full sound potential over a few days.

As per Warchal’s philosophy, however, the set is only available in one drawbar, but it is balanced enough to suit the vast majority of violins. On the other hand, you will be able to choose between a ball-end or loop-end E to match your adjusters.

Ideal strings for small violins

Available in all sizes from 1/8 to 4/4, they fit perfectly on small violins. In addition, they are also very easy and comfortable to play thanks to their low tension. This is why, in addition to offering a superb sound, they are recommended for the small fingers of the youngest violinists.

Luthier’s opinion on the Warchal Ametyst for violin

The musician’s choice should be the Ametyststrings as he needs a clean sound. Although very neutral, they will concentrate the timbre of the violin towards crystalline and pure harmonics. This is why they will be very effective on flat or rough instruments that need to be refocused and sharpened. Also, these strings can be easily adapted to all types of instruments, even the most fragile, thanks to their very low tension. This tension is also pleasant if one likes a great comfort of play under the fingers.

  • A rather affordable price for the quality.
  • Good response under the bow.
  • Eco-friendly as it is recycled by Warchal (by the way, I buy your strings as gift coupons).

  • May feel a little soft to the touch due to the low tension but on the other hand it makes them very comfortable.
