Characteristics of the Werner Pernambuco violin bow
First of all, the stick of this bow is made of the famous Brazilwood. It is considered as the best wood for this purpose, and thus it has been used for centuries in modern bow making.
Though they are most simplified, the finish of this bow is quite fine. It is adorned with an ebony frog, mounted with an abalone slide and semi-lined in abalone as well. As for the metal parts such as the ferule, the button and the wrapping, they are made of nickel silver, an alloy of nickel, copper, and zinc that looks like silver.
If you look closely, you may notice that the stick is labelled Werner. This is the label Dörfler uses to identify the most affordable of his instruments.
Besides, the sticks are available in various sizes, even for the smallest violinists!
The violin maker’s hindsight on Werner student violin bow
Though made in a very simple way, this bow was designed to offer the Pernambuco sensations at an affordable price. Considered as a student bow, it’s a very good instrument to have fun when you’ve just started playing. The warmth of the Pernambuco covers for beginners’ mistakes and makes harsh sounds softer.
