Characteristics of the DUROD cello endpin
The Korean company DUROD quickly became known as a manufacturer of cello endpins. Using their know-how in composite materials, they have developed two models of endpins including this one. This heavier version features a brass rod to offer stature to the tone of the cello.
The 10mm diameter allows its installation on most cellos, but we suggest you measure your current endpin to be sure. Otherwise, it fits very well on DUROD or BENDER sleeves.
- Length of the endpin to the tip: 520mm
Advantages
- Firstly, they are within the average weight for an endpin. This will ultimately not add any extra burden if you have a standard endpin.
- Secondly, they bring a very interesting sound, which could be suitable for your cello.
Luthier’s opinion on the DUROD cello endpin
DUROD offers an alternative to other cello endpins, with a design that stands out from the crowd. Don’t be fooled by its carbon appearance, as it is in fact only the outer layer. Indeed, inside is a brass cylinder that adds weight and sound characteristics to the whole. With this substantial addition of brass, this model is very different from the lighter version.
